The U.S. Embassy in Eritrea congratulates the city of Asmara and its people for inscription on the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) World Heritage List. The Embassy commends the hard teamwork of the staff of the Asmara Heritage Project (AHP) in compiling the dossier necessary for designation. Commenting on the decision, Chief of Mission Natalie E. Brown said she hopes this “recognition will help to foster the conditions needed for increased tourism so that others can experience the unique beauty of Asmara that those of us who reside in Asmara see every day.”
