Black History Month Kick-off Ceremony

Yesterday, on a cold February evening, the U.S. Embassy in Asmara kicked off a month-long celebration of African American History, with a screening of a documentary video on the early history of slavery and the arrival of African Americans in the Americas. This was the first public event in a series of weekly events that will address topics, such as the influence of black Americans on the development of American culture and the continuing issues of racism and inequality, in the world and in the United States.
